Water seems like such a simple necessity that is easily accessible for most of us. Sadly, there are many countries and areas that are lacking access to clean water that is safe for drinking. Because of this, there are millions of deaths each year due to diseases in unsafe drinking water. No one should have to wonder when they’ll get their next sip of clean water. Imagine having to tell your child there’s no water today; it’s a heartbreaking situation that requires support. With our annual “Drive for Water” golf tournament, we’re working to make a difference by helping bring clean and sustainable water programs to the many areas in need.
On Thursday, September 12th, 2024, we will hold our 13th annual “Drive for Water” golf tournament to continue making an impact on this worldwide issue. Please come join us at the 12th annual “Drive For Water & Friends” charity golf event. With views of the majestic Pacific Ocean as a backdrop, come play 18 holes of golf on the beautifully manicured Monarch Beach Golf Resort, located in Monarch Beach, CA on August 3rd. Drive for Water, a nonprofit faith-based organization and the fundraising arm of NoThirstyChild.org, raised more than $800,000 for people around the world lacking the necessity of clean water in last year’s event.
“Every day billions of people around the world lack the basic necessities we take for granted, such as clean water for drinking and eating, the ability to properly clean themselves and education,” noted Stephen Magliocco founder of Drive for Water. “By hosting one day charity golf events, with like-minded business and community leaders, the funds we raise help entire villages and towns live healthier lifestyles. It’s truly inspiring to see the commitment and devotion of our sponsors, staff and guests to help people who they’ve never met!”
With the economic downturn of recent years, many charities have been hard hit and struggle to raise awareness and funds necessary to support their efforts. However Stephen and his wife Kourtney were undeterred despite those warnings and more determined than ever to help those that couldn’t help themselves when they founded Drive for Water in 2011. Many experts warned Magliocco that he’d be lucky to break even in his first year. He broke even and more, raising $30,000 in 2011.

For billions of people throughout the world, one of the basic necessities of life is catastrophically lacking: water. In many developing nations, access to clean, safe drinking water is considered a luxury, and millions die every year from disease caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation. Included among these millions are hundreds of thousands of children.
Because water is so lacking, women and children in these impoverished countries are often tasked with the backbreaking daily labor of hauling water long distances for their use. In our privileged nation, where an abundance of safe, clean water flows easily and conveniently right inside our homes, these facts can be hard to comprehend. On Sept. 12, 2019, caring golfers who desire to make a difference will come together to help those affected by this global water crisis as they participate in the annual “Drive for Water” golf tournament at the beautiful Pelican Beach Golf Resort near new Newport Beach, California.
This annual event is hosted by PEACEwater: No Thirsty Child!, and proceeds will benefit the following charities:
Participants can tee off to benefit these worthy causes at the spectacular Pelican Beach Golf Resort, which was born from the vision of celebrated golf course architect Tom Fazio and features lush landscaping and oceanfront views at every hole. Access to clean, safe drinking water is considered a luxury in many developing nations of the world. There’s no magical water tap available that instantly provides fresh, clear water to quench thirst, clean bodies and keep billions of people healthy. Instead, the struggle to fetch the life-saving elixir is a daily necessity that often targets women and children who are tasked with the back-breaking duty. On Sept. 13, golf enthusiasts and water lovers everywhere are invited to tee off and help solve this problem by participating in the annual “Drive for Water” golf tournament, held once again at the stunning Pelican Beach Golf Resort near Newport Beach, California.
Proceeds from this annual event, hosted by PEACEwater: No Thirsty Child!, will benefit H2❤, an organization that champions and helps bring sustainable, clean water programs to communities in developing countries. Proceeds will also benefit Operation Homefront San Diego, an organization that provides assistance and support programs for military families, along with Crittenton, a nonprofit, nationally accredited child welfare and behavioral health agency with a 50-year service record of empowering the vulnerable.
Contaminated water and a lack of basic sanitation are undermining efforts to end extreme poverty and disease in the world’s poorest countries. The United Nations states there are about 2.3 billion people worldwide who lack basic sanitation facilities and at least 1.8 billion people who drink contaminated water because there is no other choice. Access to clean, safe water saves lives and gives families and individuals more time to pursue education and work opportunities that will help break the cycle of poverty.
The 2018 “Drive for Water” at the Pelican Beach Golf Resort, designed by visionary golf course architect Tom Fazio, boasts breathtaking seaside vistas and one-of-a-kind courses that complement the surrounding natural beauty.
